We provide high quality imaging of thyroid gland and other endocrine related anatomy. Our professional and highly trained ultrasound technicians have many years of endocrine specialty imaging expertise. In a team approach, they work closely with our physicians to corroborate ultrasound findings to ensure highly specialized endocrine care for our patients.
It is an office procedure that may require you to stop certain medications (such as blood thinners) and some supplements for a specified time prior to the procedure. After sterile preparation of the skin in the part of your neck in front of the thyroid gland, an ultrasound probe is used to locate and maintain visualization of the nodule during the procedure. A very thin fine needle is briefly inserted through the skin into the thyroid gland to obtain a sample of the nodule tissue. This tissue is then sent to the lab to determine if the nodule is benign or malignant. You can generally resume your usual activities after the biopsy.
